Honor Capital Campaign
The Williams School and the YMCA of Southern Hampton Roads partnered to build a gymnasium on land provided by the Blocker Norfolk Family YMCA, located on Bute Street, just minutes away from The Williams School campus. This partnership has provided a much needed athletic facility for both organizations. The new gym provides a safe and consistent place for Williams School students to hold daily physical education instruction, practice and host athletic games and allows the Blocker YMCA to expand its current programming offerings to the community and its members. Additional planned uses for the facility include a space to host receptions and special and community events.
Construction of the 6,415 square foot gymnasium began in early July 2017 and was completed in early February 2018. With the partnership agreement, The Williams School raised the funding to build the space, while the Blocker YMCA will support all future operating and maintenance costs.
To participate in this exciting new partnership, please contact Kate Pringle, Director of Development, at 757-687-0790. Naming opportunities are still available.
The Williams School Honor Campaign is the largest, most ambitious, and most important fundraising effort in the school's history. The Williams Honor Campaign brings to life the recommendations of our Board of Trustees strategic plan which outlines a growth project to enhance our school's development of its faculty, students and role within the community. Williams' long-term goal of raising at least $10 million aims to fund two areas of critical importance for our future: to transform the campus learning environment and to bolster the endowment.
We will accomplish Phase 1 of our campaign by:
Honoring Our Faculty
Supporting our Exceptional Faculty and Staff through professional development
Honoring Our Students
Providing twenty-first century learning for children in a nurturing, diverse family environment
Honoring Our Campus
Creating a unique, and safe learning environment with vibrant community connections
PHASE 1 CAMPAIGN GOAL...................................................................................................................................$5,000,000
