Welcome to Summer Adventures at The Williams School. We are pleased to offer five weeks of half and/or full day camps this summer. These camps are designed to be exciting, fun and educational. We are expanding our camp offerings to include not only students from TWS, but also those residing in the Hampton Roads community.

Our summer camp adventures will take place at The Williams School, the YMCA pool and The Williams School Gym at The Blocker Norfolk Family YMCA (312 Bute Street, Norfolk)as well as many other locations throughout Hampton Roads.

Registration & Fees

You may complete your application online and you will receive a confirmation. Early registration is encouraged as Camp sizes are limited. The following payment options are available:

  • Deposit - A $50 deposit per child, per camp week will hold your campers space. The $50 deposit will be credited to each week of attendance and is nonrefundable after May 31, 2019. The remaining balance is due prior to the start of each campers session.
  • Automatic withdrawal from your bank account - Please email financegroup@thewilliamsschool.org for information.
  • Total fees are due after online registration - Cash or check.

Refunds/Cancellation Policies

  • The Williams School reserves the right to modify or cancel camp due to insufficient enrollment.
  • If camp is cancelled by the school, a full refund will be made. If a camp is cancelled by a parent, a refund will not be issued unless requested in writing two weeks prior to the camp session(s) your camper is attending. Twenty percent (20%) of the total fees is non-refundable.
  • In the event that The Williams School must close one day for an unforeseen event (i.e. inclement weather) no refunds will be provided.
  • If a camper is dismissed for a disciplinary action, no refund will be given.

Camp Descriptions:

 

Session 1: June 10 - 14
FULL DAY CAMPS
 

Rising K-2nd Disney Days
It's time to enjoy the enchanting world of Disney to celebrate Mickey's 90th Birthday. Join us, as our tour guide, Mickey Mouse, takes us on an exciting journey into the world of Disney. This camp session will look at everyone's favorite Disney characters through crafts, games and other fun activities. Get ready for a week of adventure-packed exploration as we highlight a different Disney character each day.

Instructors: Beth Miller, Librarian & Lauren Wohner, 2nd grade co-teacher

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Fees: $275 (includes swimming lessons and cooking)

Lunch: Pack a lunch or buy a lunch $5 a day or $25/week


Rising 3-5th "So You Think You Can Dance" Meets "American Idol"

Who doesn't love a good sing off and dance battle. Each day the campers will hone their singing and dancing skills to go head to head in a little friendly competition. They will work in groups and individually. We will utilize different genres of music to create a variety show that will be showcased at the end of the week.

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Fees: $275 (includes swimming lessons and cooking)

Rising 3-8th Coach G's Co-Ed Basketball Camp and Outdoor Adventure Camp
  • (Part 1) The 11th Annual Coach Gerrard's Basketball Camp at The Williams School Gym at the Blocker Y. Campers will practice basketball fundamentals, individual improvement drills, court awareness and team game experience.

Instructors: Robert Gerrard, Director, PE Staff and Coach; Chris Johnson, TWS Coach; and LaTasha Chambers, Athletic Director

  • (Part 2) Outdoor Adventurers should bring a backpack with a change of clothes, bathing suit, towel, sunscreen and water shoes. Sandy Bottom Nature Park, Buckroe Beach, Bayville Park for Frisbee Golf and Jungle Golf are just a few places these adventurers will visit. Campers will swim in lifeguarded areas. The bus will pick-up and drop-off campers at The Williams School.

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Fees: $275 for full day

Lunch: Pack a lunch, with snacks and water bottle, one day bring money to eat out.

HALF DAY CAMP


Rising 3-8th Coach G's Co-Ed Basketball Camp

The 11th Annual Coach Gerrard's Basketball Camp at The Williams School Gym at the Blocker Y.

Basketball: Campers will practice basketball fundamentals, individual improvement drills, court awareness and team game experience.

Instructors: Robert Gerrard, Director, PE Staff and Coach; Ann Daly, Extended Day Leader

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Fees: $150 for half day

Lunch: not available

Half day campers must be picked up at gym or in front of school


Session 2: June 17 - 21
FULL DAY CAMPS

 

Rising K-2nd Fairy Tales with Knights and Princesses

Come dance your way through your favorite fairy tales. We will explore the wonderful world of "Once Upon a Time". Build your own castles, fight dragons and read your favorite fairy tales such as Tangled, Cinderella and Shrek. Join us for this week full of imagination and fun!

Rising 3-5th Magic School Bus Adventures

Get ready for a magical ride you won't soon forget! Each day we will hop on the Magic School Bus and let Mrs. Frizzle take us on a different journey. Blast into space, dive deep into the ocean, fly around the sky, jump into a volcano and more! You won't want to miss this wacky week of science, games, exploration and FUN! A field trip will be part of the adventure.

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Fees: $275 (includes swimming lessons and cooking)

Rising 5-8th Amusement Adventures Await

Back by popular demand! Every day campers will be taking off-campus trips to places like Busch Gardens, Water Country, Pinboys bowling and even, perhaps, Ocean Breeze Fun Park just to name a few. Campers will enjoy a balance between indoor and outdoor adventures, creating new and exciting experiences all week long. At parks, campers will be supervised in small groups with an adult and will also have a buddy. Campers will swim in lifeguarded areas. Bring a backpack with a lunch, bathing suit, towel, water bottle, hat and sunscreen each day.

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. (*note extended time)

Fees: without season passes: $350

Session 3: June 24 - 28
FULL DAY CAMPS

 

Rising K- 2nd Pet-a-Palooza

Kittens, puppies, dogs, cats, fish, hamsters, oh my! Join us for a week delighting in the joys of pets, whether you own one or not! We all love wet noses and whiskers! The week will include pet related stories, crafts, activities and a field trip to the Portsmouth Humane Society. Our grand finale will be a Pet Show!

Rising 3-5th Nature Explorers

Spend an exciting week exploring nature and observing wildlife at local parks and gardens. We will have two full day trips to First Landing State Park and Back Bay Wildlife Refuge with a picnic lunch and swimming at lifeguarded beaches. Campers will have swimming lessons at the Block Y pool and cooking with local garden produce three times a week. Bring a backpack with a lunch, bathing suit, towel, water bottle, hat and sunscreen each day.

Session 4: August 5 - 9
FULL DAY CAMPS

 

Rising K-2nd Awesome Authors

Get ready for a new school year by exploring awesome authors and illustrators. Create a variety of art projects and enjoy activities that will extend your reading. A visit to the Slover Library will be part of the adventure. Prepare and eat treats with Chef Kenya that go along with the books you read.

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Fees: $275 (includes swimming lessons and cooking)

Rising 3-5th Go Hogwarts Wild with Harry Potter (Book 1)

Come spend a fantasy filled week inspired by the world of Harry Potter. The Williams School will be our Hogwarts and our campers our wizards! Crafts, snacks, games, activities and science will all be infused by all things Harry Potter! Quidditch anyone?

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Fees: $275 (includes swimming lessons and cooking)

Session 4: August 5 - 9
HALF DAY CAMP
 

Rising 5-8th Middle School Writers & Readers

This camp is intended to provide reinforcement of the writing process (brainstorming, drafting, revising and editing) as students work on quick, creative and engaging writing prompts throughout the week. In addition, students will have time for reading - either completing summer reading projects or just reading for fun! Campers will have time to explore the library for new books.

Instructor: Casey Lee, Middle School Language Arts teacher

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Fees: $150 - Pick up in front of The Williams School at 12:00 p.m.

Lunch: not offered


Session 5: August 12 - 16
HALF DAY CAMP
 

Rising 4-8th Girls Basketball & Volleyball Camp

This camp will focus on individual skill development, the importance of fundamentals and development of a healthy team attitude.

Girls Basketball - Campers will take part in a variety of competitions and fundamental drill work with emphasis on ball handling, dribbling, passing, shooting and defense.

Girls Volleyball - Campers will learn the fundamentals of volleyball while improving their skills to prepare for middle school volleyball. The key focus points will be setting, passing, hitting, serving and team play. 

The bus will pick up and drop off campers at The Williams School.

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Fees: $150

Lunch: No Lunch offered


Session 5: August 12-16
FULL DAY CAMP
 

Rising 4-8th Girls Basketball & Volleyball Camp (see above) and Girls Just Want to Have Fun

The fun continues after Girls Basketball and Volleyball Camp. Off campus activities may include a midday paint party, bowling, a movie, shopping and outdoor activities. Each day brings a new adventure. Come join the fun!

Time: 12:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Fees: $275 for Basketball/Volleyball Calmp and Girl Fun Camp

Lunch: Full Day campers should bring their lunch each day
