At The Williams School we believe that excellence is measured one child at a time.  We offer a rigorous curriculum that prepares students to enter the most competitive public and independent schools in Hampton Roads while allowing children to develop at their own rate and in their own way.  In addition to focusing on what to learn, we teach children how to learn.  As a result, it is common to see students working independently, in small groups with peers or with students from other grades, in traditional classroom settings, and while sprawled across the floor. 

We believe a child develops strong self-esteem when he or she is able to succeed at challenging tasks.  Our curriculum is designed to stretch children's minds without frustrating their spirits, to introduce them to important concepts without overwhelming them with minutia, to instill a strong work ethic without diminishing joy in learning.

We have succeeded at Williams when students graduate from our eighth grade with the same sense of wonder and love of learning that they brought to us in kindergarten.
