2018 - 2019 School Year

 

Teacher, Primary (K-2):

The Williams School, an independent K-8 school located in the Ghent area of Norfolk, is seeking a full-time elementary teacher for the primary grades (K-2).  The ideal candidate will embrace a co-teaching model that focuses on developing a working relationship with his/her fellow classroom teacher to play off of each other’s teaching strengths.  We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a small school, garnering close relationships with students and their families, and who understands the value of educating the whole child in a K-8 environment.

Teacher, Elementary (3-5)

Teacher, Middle School Language Arts (6-8)

The Williams School, an independent K-8 school located in the Ghent area of Norfolk, is seeking a full-time middle school Language Arts teacher.  The ideal candidate will have knowledge of young adult/adolescent literature, have a passion for teaching writing in various forms, approach learning with enthusiasm for process-driven education, and be creative with engaging students in their own learning.  We are looking for someone who values inclusion, collaboration, and development of strong relationships with his/her students.  As part of our middle school team, flexibility and the capability to work, plan, and communicate effectively with other middle school teachers is a must.

Guidance Counselor

The Williams School, an independent K-8 school located in the Ghent area of Norfolk, is seeking a full-time Guidance Counselor.  The ideal candidate will support students in our program as a facilitator of academic goals, as well as a resource for social and emotional growth.  He/She will also work closely with students, teachers, and families to provide individual counseling and support as needed.  The Guidance Counselor position also includes coordinating academic assessments, analyzing the resulting reports, and aiding teachers in planning strategies to best fit the needs of students.  He/She will also prepare and process transcript requests and serve as a resource for our graduates as they move into high school.

Candidates should have a Master's degree in school or guidance counseling, or equivalent credentials.  Proven experience as a guidance counselor preferred, along with excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a variety of age groups, personalities, and backgrounds.  The listed position is available for the 2018-2019 school year.  Please email a cover letter, résumé, and list of references to Michael Spencer, Head of School: mspencer@thewilliamsschool.org.
